Even with the report of a 3 year contract signed with Andretti Green Racing, Danica Patrick could still drive in NASCAR's Nationwide, or Camping World Truck Series, as well as ARCA.
Rick Hendrick told SI.com that he is definitely interested in having Danica Patrick drive the #5 Nationwide Series car on a limited schedule around her IndyCar Schedule. Hendrick is part owner of the JR Motorsports operation that Dale Earnhardt Jr owns.
Kelley Earnhardt Elledge told reporters "there is a natural fit at JRM with Dale Jr and Danica both serving as spokespersons for GoDaddy.com. As a female managing one of the top Nationwide Series teams in the sport, I would be excited to have Danica with the JR Motorsports fold if she decides to enter the world of NASCAR." She would share the #5 with Dale Jr and others. Next year, Mark Martin will also be sponsored in the Cup Series by GoDaddy.com.
Other teams have expressed an interest in Danica Patrick, including Michael Waltrip Racing. Michael Waltrip will put her in a Nationwide or Camping World Truck Series races. "We've certainly talked to her and are interested in what she's going to do. We have sort of done that without a whole lot of people knowing. She knows we're interested when she knows what she's going to do," said Waltrip. Michael also doesn't think they'll be a Manufacturers problem, since Honda, which she drives for in IndyCar, and Toyota, which he fields and are rivals.
If this happens, will it better NASCAR? Well it might bring a whole new fan base, but won't make NASCAR better unless further changes exist. Will NASCAR ever listen to Danica?
