Tony Stewart won the Coke Zero 400 at the Daytona International Speedway in a last lap crash that took out his former teammate.
In a last lap accident that could have been avoided, Tony Stewart surged ahead of the crashing Kyle Busch to win his second points race and third Nascar race of the year, including a win at Pocono and his non points race win at the All Star Race at Charlotte. Tony Stewart was upfront all race long, running with Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin, former teammates at Joe Gibbs Racing. Tony said he was drafting with Kyle Busch most of the race.
But in the last lap, Tony got his right front up along side of the #18 Interstate Batteries Toyota of Kyle Busch, only to have Busch try to cut across him to block. The #14 Burger King Chevrolet got into the Busch car and spun him into the outside wall. Tony held his line just like Brad Keselowski did in his win at Talledega for that spectacular fence riding crash and Brad's win.
Tony Stewart didn't like the way he won the race, but I think if he checks out the many views, like the ones on nascar.com, he might just change his mind. Threw the accident, Tony Stewart led Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin to the checkered flag.
In another losing move, Kyle Busch refused post-race comments about the incident. He was taken to the infield care center. Tony Stewart now leads the overall driver points by 180 points over second place Jeff Gordon and 194 points over third place Jimmie Johnson. Dale Earnhardt Jr drops to 21st in Driver points and may be out of the playoffs.
