He's joking right? The man has created an outcry against his tax increases.
Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts has announced his intent to run for reelection. I think he's been running for Governor the last two years without doing anything except enrage the voters with talk about tax increases. I said talk because nothing has gotten done yet. The last think Gov Patrick should be announcing is his reelection intentions.
Two major pieces of legislation have yet to be finished, and he's been in office for two years. The Transportation Reorganization is still being debated. He's trying to merge several major agencies into one, but with four divisions. Two of the agencies needed closing a long time ago. The MBTA's train service, mostly in Boston, has lost money for decades and is now in huge debt. The MassPike is another agencies in huge debt. Both of these agencies need total reorganization, including firing many of the personnel that run it.
This legislation is no more ready to move than his pension reform. He blames state retirees for abuses that the state has written into the system. If he wants to reform it, then reform it now. The State Senate has finally passed some version of reform, but many critics say it doesn't go far enough. As one of those retirees, I receive what the state gave me for my years of service, with no extras like certain former State Leaders have.
What he has done is lose his fight for gambling in this state. And if he doesn't start dealing with the Middleboro Casino deal, the Federal Government will establish this Indian Casino before the state gets anything from it.
He's also won the Gay Marriage fight without even a vote taken. Because of what he didn't do, the gay marriage was allowed to succeed. This was the only thing he did that I approve of. If Massachusetts did fight against gay marriage, it would have cost millions.
I believe a vote for Deval Patrick will certainly raise our taxes and fees. We the voters saved him by voting to save the Income Tax. Now we are thanked with more tax increases when raised. They haven't been done yet, but gove the legislature time, they'll do the stupid thing. I'm not voting for this man.
So; put back the tolls on the MassPike and raise what you use fees. Leave our income tax and gas tax alone.
